I never listened because I knew there was no chance they were going to be as interesting as they were when they were doing songs like "A Forest." It's as simple as old school vs new school.

Also, thanks for being a true reviewer. A lot of people would give it five stars just because it was the Cure without knowing anything about the past albums or how they've slowly degraded.

Thanks for that. It means a lot.

I liked Pornography, but I loved Disintegration, and I think this is a strong release as well. Maybe that's just the version of the Cure I prefer?

Absolutely - and please don’t misconstrue me - there’s nothing weak about SOALW - I would just like to see the same tired old keyboard sounds getting an upgrade and more fitting place in the mix. I’d LOVE to hear the songs naked.

Disintegration - though - that’s another matter - but I’m happy to be in a minority of one! :)

Thanks for the comment - I’m glad to hear of any kindred spirit enjoying any aspect of The Cure!

I agree with you 100% here, mate. I was looking forward to it but found the overall result ho hum. The sound just grates me. The album goes nowhere for me.

I love the Cure but they declined fast. No disgrace. It happens. "when your passion becomes your job ....." Pornography was terrible. . . . . I'm amazed when people praise Disintegration. It's right there in the name!
